DIY Facial Mask Using Products from Your Garden

A skin mask made with the right ingredients can help leave your face looking clear, bright and radiant. And you may not need to look any farther than your organic vegetable garden for the feel-good stuff. Especially during the winter months when your skin suffers from the dry, cold conditions, you can give your face some TLC by making a DIY Balancing Facial Mask.

According to Martha Stewart, after blending the concoction and allowing it to seep into your skin, you will notice clean pores, a cooling sensation, reduction in stress and irritation, and removal of dead cells.

Put the fruits of your vegetable gardening labor to good use, and head outside to grab cucumber, avocado and lemon. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1/3 cup cucumber, finely grated
  • 2/3 cup avocado, mashed
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons green clay powder, found in your local natural foods store

Using a fork to blend, combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Place the bowl, covered in plastic wrap, in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to give it time to chill and come together. When it’s ready, wash and dry your skin, then apply a thick layer of mask to your face and neck, being careful to keep your lip and eye areas clear. Now, it’s time to lay back and relax! Sit still until the mask dries in place, which should take between 10 and 15 minutes. Wipe it off with a damp cloth and cool water and pat it dry.

After just the first application, you may start to notice results! The inflammation-fighting of the properties work perfectly with the acids In the lemon, moisturizers in the avocado and minerals in the clay to leave your face looking flawless.
